Twin Quilts!

Ever wonder what a newbie quilter's house looks like when she doesn't have her own sewing room to destroy?
Yeah, kinda like that.

Poor Rich has been an awesome husband trying to clean the house, and here I am messing it up with my fabric!!

As you can see, this week(end) I decided I would start working on my twin quilts. I decided on a Illinois Roads Quilt, child size.

Thursday and Friday I cut out the squares, and today I've been sewing the blocks together.

I started by cutting my blocks - here's a close-up of the fabrics I picked up at my Grandma's house.

Then I sewed a daisy chain full of 2x3.5" squares, to make a 3.5x3.5" block.

Here's how they look on the design wall!

I'm not sure how I feel about the orange and purple, but all the fabric was free...so I'm not going to complain! Thanks Grandma =)

Both quilts are great. I have a sewing room and I still flow into the rest of the house!

I love those penguins and jungle fabrics. I've got a small collection of penguin fabrics but haven't seen those before. I also love that you're working out of your grandma's stash. They'll be truly multi-generational quilts. How cool is that!

Don't feel bad about the lack of dedicated space. I work out of a corner of our office space and my mess drives dh nuts. Unfortunately, I'll be losing even that space soon enough when we move my oldest son into that room so that the two younger boys are sharing a room. We moms have to make room for ourselves and our "stuff" wherever we can.

I LOVE the orange and purple! But, I'm biased because orange is my favorite color.

The colors are fun and happy--great choices. Since losing my sewing room to our son who moved back in, I have quilting stuff in three different rooms. Ugh! But I get my exercise going up and down the stairs...
